About Color Party West Exhibition

As I mentioned in my previous post, from 1st to 31st December 2020, my collaboration artwork was exhibited at an online exhibition called ‘Color Party’. Although last year’s exhibition was held online, this is usually an exhibition held once a year at Irorimura Gallery, Osaka. Today, I thought I’d share a bit about this fun and interesting open exhibition with you.

Stepping into the exhibition space each year is such an interesting experience. Because there is no rule on what media the artwork needs to be, you could find all sorts of impressive and fascinating things in this exhibition. Artworks include traditional painting, digital artwork, design, fashion, sculpture, jewelry, and much others. All artwork are tied in with the color theme - hence the name, ‘Color Party’ - which help creates a coherence between all these artworks.

My first visit to this exhibition was in 2017, but actually it has been held annually since 2013. The color theme during my first visit was green. During my first visit, I knew there is a color theme for the exhibition, but I wasn’t expecting the diversity of artworks displayed. I was pleasantly surprised with the space and all the artworks exhibited. Probably it would be easier if I showed you a photo of the space, so here are some pictures and short clips from previous exhibitions.

These are just a few preview photos of the various artworks you can see during the exhibition. I know it’s a short preview, but isn’t it interesting?

The committee did a great job in arranging so that everything goes well inside the available gallery space. I love the fact that the only thread tying everything together is color. The exhibition is held every year, and the color theme also changes. Although covid caused last year’s exhibition to be postponed, it made way for an online version of the same exhibition. Hopefully this year the exhibition could go as planned.
